The Multifunctional Accommodation Bekkerveld (MAB) will be a sport and meeting centre for the entire neighbourhood. The new MAB consists of football pitches, a sports hall, and a meeting area. The cafeteria will be more than just a place to eat; it will be a meeting place for the neighbourhood, where all sorts of activities can be organized. Primary and secondary schools and associations in the neighbourhood will use the sports hall and events will occasionally be held there as well. The municipal government has assigned RKSV Bekkerveld the task of designing the social function of the meeting area, which is being carried out in close cooperation with associations and organizations from the districts of Aarveld, Bekkerveld, Douve Weien, and Caumerveld.
Sustainable design
The building is equipped with an extensive green roof/sedum roof, achieved thanks to the Nophadrain Extensive Green Roof System. In addition to its aesthetic value, this green roof also contributes to the building's sustainable design. Nophadrain's extensive green roof system not only ensures perfect growing conditions for the vegetation, but also takes some of the burden off the sewage system and combats the 'heat island effect'. Read more about the advantages of the Nophadrain Extensive Green Roof System. In addition to its extensive green roof, the use of water sourced from former coal mines, good insulation, and solar panels also contribute to the sustainability of this multifunctional building.
