Composition
1. Drainage layer: excess rainwater can drain into the sewage system. That is why four drainage holes have been made per cavity at the top and bottom of the water-buffering layer.
2. Water buffering layer: rainwater is buffered capillary in a substrate of slightly expanded clay granules. The excess water that can’t be stored is being drained quickly of the roof. To create an extra water buffer for dry periods, water is also stored non-capillary because the drainage holes are installed about 1 cm from the bottom.
3. Substrate layer: the thickness of the substrate layer is adapted to the needs of the sedum and the climate. The substrate layer provides the nutrients and water supply for the sedum on the one hand, and oxygen and anchorage for the roots on the other.
4. Vegetation layer - Sedum: The sedum cassettes have at least 80% coverage with 8 to 10 different types of sedum.
Delivery and installation
The ND Sedum Cassettes - Premium can be delivered per piece and can be used on roofs with no or limited falls and roofs with a slope up to 15 degrees. First, always check whether the waterproofing membrane is suitable for the installation of a green roof. Suitable root-resistant foils (such as the ND WSB-50 Root Barrier) and protective membranes (such as the ND SV-300 Protection Geotextile) can also be found in our product range. If necessary, the cassettes can be cut to size. The transition to ascending areas can easily be achieved with gravel.
We recommend to use the ND Plant Based Bio Fertilizer – Spring 11-0-5 (NPK) or ND Plant Based Bio Fertilizer – Fall 7-0-7 (NPK) + S to maintain the sedum.
